Caramel Kiss Teaffogato
This recipe is an adaptation of the traditional Italian Affogato, a coffee based dessert that has a shot of expresso coffee poured over vanilla ice cream or gelato.
This adaptation using Tea-Cherie's Caramel Kiss tea blend, results in a delightfully creamy dessert with the flavours of caramel coming through the tea blend. This is not an overly sweet dessert and if you want to make it a lighter option you can use a low fat/calorie vanilla ice cream. No sugar required as you have enough sweetness coming through from the ice cream.
Here's what you need to make 2 serves of Caramel Kiss Teaffogato:
2 teaspoons Tea-Cherie Caramel Kiss tea blend
2 cups boiling water
Good quality vanilla ice cream
Optional - biscotti to serve
Here's how you make it:
1. Brew the tea leaves for 5 minutes in the boiling water, the longer you brew the tea the stronger the caramel flavour in your teaffogato but be careful not to overbrew.
2. Place a scoop of vanilla ice-cream into a glass and pour brewed tea into the the glass - 3/4 of the way up.
3. Allow for the ice cream to partially melt into the tea for the flavours to combine and enjoy.
